In 2007, Grammy-Award winning multi-instrumentalist Sam Bush, a living bluegrass legend, was recognized by the Americana Music Association as its Instrumentalist of the Year and by the International Bluegrass Music Association as Mandolin Player of the Year, an unprecedented twin honor. Then, in 2009, he received IBMA's Lifetime Achievement Award. Known as the "King of Telluride" for his perennial appearances at the famous Colorado music festival held there and the "King of Newgrass," for his origination of the Newgrass style, he was a founding member of The New Grass Revival and has often been called "a modern day Bill Monroe" for his musical prowess.
