Oysters on Telfair
Thursday November 01, 2012
Description:
Relaxed, informal fun, and a cool autumn evening will set the stage in the gardens of historic Ware’s Folly (c. 1818), headquarters to the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art. Highlights of the evening will include a silent art auction of close to 90 original pieces of art, or “small works”. The featured artists include visual art students at Augusta State University and local amateur and professional artists. Two exhibitions will be on view during the evening — Rusty Walton: Selected Works, a mixed media photography exhibition in the Main Gallery and Melanie Miller Longshore, a study on peach orchards in oil and pastel, viewable in the Creel-Harison Community Art Gallery.
The evening will also feature raw and steamed oyster bars, a delectable “down on the bayou” feast, soulful bluegrass music by the Crosstie Walkers, and a full bar. In addition to the silent auction of small works, raffle tickets will be available for purchase to win antiques, silver, and art.
